At 10:30 AM, Mark Hurst, CISA – Director of Business Advisory Services, Hein & Associates, will present "Systems Due Diligence from an IT Audit Perspective". The presentation will discuss several areas that should be reviewed when performing a due diligence assessment of a company’s IT environment in a pre- and post acquistion environment.

At 12-Noon, Edwin Holt, CPA, CISA, ABCP – Partner, KPMG LLP and Keith Hamilton, CPA, CISA – Manager, KPMG LLP, will present "Reporting on Controls at Service Organizations: The New "SAS 70" Standards ". The presentation will review the new standards for reporting on controls at a service organization from a global perspective.

Content: When companies acquire other entities or are acquired, an area that is often reviewed as part of the overall due diligence exercise is how each of the entities’ Information Technology (“IT”) environments complements one another. Aspects of several areas should be assessed when performing a due diligence assessment of a company’s IT environment. Having an understanding of these areas will enable the IT professional to communicate strengths and weaknesses to senior executives as they make acquisition decisions and plan the post acquisition strategy.

Objectives: Attendees will learn about:
• General understanding of when IT due diligence may need to be performed
• Identification of keys areas to include in a Due Diligence Review of a company’s IT environment
• Recognition of potential strengths and weaknesses associated with major IT areas under review in the due diligence process

Content: : For over 40 years, Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) and its predecessors have been the U.S. standard for reporting on controls at service organizations. In the post-Sarbanes-Oxley era, SAS 70 has evolved into a de-facto global standard. The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) in the United States have undertaken to develop new standards for reporting on controls at a service organization, with a truly global constituency in mind. This presentation will focus on the changes with the new standards.
